Origins
Bug basket was hatched as a passion project to express my unique creativity and affinity with hand crafted good. Beginning more as a personal art project than design objective, I sought to find a way to make personalized plushies I could gift or sell to the people in my communities. I have a love of bugs and and other small creatures and wanted to express this in the form of the idealized bug, a blobby little beetle! This idea blossomed into what the project is today: a way for me to express my skills in physical product production and sewing along side a personalized branding suite that reflects my core goals and values. In this way, the goal of Bug Basket is to represent the type of design and art that I want to see more of: design made for joy, personal expression and community care, not for personal gain.
The Bug Buddy
The Bug Buddy represents the Platonic ideal of a bug. Think like how the beloved teddy bear is a cute and cuddly expression of an animal you probably would not want to cuddle with. But more than a teddy bear, a Bug Buddy is your stuffed companion that loves adventure! Each is made of repurposed materials to reduce waste and is built with a ring clasp to be attached to your bag, keys, or even your belt! These bugs can also be a simple plushy, content to see the world from the dashboard of a car, rest at your desk to watch you work, or cuddle under your pillow. But no matter where they go, the Bug Buddy exists to bring a little more whimsy to your life in the form of a creature that is often under appreciated.
